TCG Community Interview #1: @violetcarson007

I interviewed @violetcarson007, a member of the TCG community- here are his answers to my questions:

Q: What was the first TCG you ever collected or played?

A: Pokemon was my first TCG. I unfortunately don't have my childhood collection because I moved on from collecting for awhile, but one of my earliest memories from collecting as a kid is going down the street to a neighbor's house who sold cards. I was happy to look through them, and ended up buying a base set Mewtwo.

Q: Which TCGs do you currently collect/play?

A: I'm definitely on the collecting side of things. Pokemon is the main TCG I collect, but I also collect Cardfight Vanguard and Yugioh as well. I'm all about the pretty cards, and pretty art. I have some other random TCG cards too like Weiss Schwarz, Force of Will, Digimon, and Metazoo

Q: What's your favorite card in your collection?

A: I feel like my favorite card changes a lot ! And it's really difficult to pinpoint a top favorite. Some of my recent favorites I've been able to collect are the Greedent V Alt Art from Fusion Strike, the Dark Magician Girl from Legendary Duelists Season 3, and Growth Of Feelings, Aya Maruyama (SSR) From BanG Dream Film Live

Q: What's your favorite TCG to play?

A: Of the 3 I collect.  I only know the basics of Pokemon and classic Yugioh. I used to play yugioh in highschool on my lunchbreak with friends, and put countless hours into the Gameboy Advance game Eternal Duelist Soul . So I think I would have to pick classic Yugioh.

Q: Which part of the hobby do you enjoy more, collecting or playing, and why?

A: I'm definitely more on the collecting side! I'm not against learning and playing, but I live in a very small town with no other collectors, so playing is a bit more complicated for me.

I love collecting so much, just because I enjoy seeing all the different arts on the cards. I love flipping through my binders and seeing all the different art styles, whether it be Pokemon, Ygo, or CFV. Also love seeing cards in my collection that were traded/gifted to me from friends I've met from the online Instagram community

Q: What do you hope to see more of in the TCG community? What do you hope to see less of?

A: I love seeing all of the support for one another, and I think we can all use more of that, not just in the TCG Community. As part of the instagram TCG community, I just love seeing people collect what they want, and posting/sharing what they want.

As far as what I'd like to see less of, just like in every community there are negative experiences in it. But I think above all else, the thing I would love to see less of, is people feeling like their collection isn't good enough, or as great as some others have. I would love for them to feel welcomed, and valued, whether they have a collection of the highest monetary  value, or almost none at all.

Q: What are your thoughts on the new indie and homemade TCGs that have been coming out recently? Which one is your personal favorite?

A: I thinks it's amazing seeing all of these indie TCG's coming out, and all the different art styles. Some of my favorites I've seen recently are Primal TCG, Mythik, and Nostalgix TCG.

Q: Are there any hobbies you have outside of trading card games?

Yes! I love playing Piano, don't play as much as I should but I thoroughly enjoy music. I also dabble a little bit here and there in photography as well. Then of course I play video games here and there too, but also go through brief periods where I don't really play anything. I also genuinely love movies/TV series and always enjoy when I get time to sit down and watch some of them

Q: What is your favorite TCG of all time?

A: I'd definitely have to say Pokemon. It was the first TCG I collected, and I definitely have the most memories with that franchise between the cards, and playing a lot of the games. I still have my childhood copy of Pokemon Blue and Yellow as well as my Gameboy Color

TCG Interview #90: Ward (Part 2)

I did a follow-up interview with Ward TCG, here are their answers to my questions! Q:  What’s new with Ward TCG since our previous interview? A: A lot has happened in the year since our last interview. Ward has hosted a dozen tournaments with great turnouts, lots of action, and many new players.    We have attended several conventions with the most recent being the HUGE Midwest gaming Classic in Milwaukee WI. The original actors from resident Evil 1 video game hung out at our booth for a while and were enamored with Ward.    We are in about 2 dozen stores, including a partnership with a Midwest convenience store chain “Luckey Seven”. They fell in love with Ward and have begun to spread it in their 37 stores across the Midwest.    We were invited to be on several interviews with ABC News. They also loved Ward and wanted to help promote an upcoming tournament we had in Minneapolis MN at that time. Being on Live TV was very nerve racking. We were also hosted by PBS for a short segment cal

TCG Interview #12: Neo Gambit

I spoke with the creator of Neo Gambit- here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: NeoGambit is a fast paced and easy to play deck building combat TCG. Q: What inspired you to create a TCG? A: This came from a dream. I woke up from a nap and had dreamt of this fun TCG, reminded me of how much fun I had as a kid play card games. As a kid I spent hours playing games, but mostly alone, a lot of rules and effects for cards were off putting to others around me. So from my dream, NeoGambit was birthed. A simple fun TCG that literally anyone can play. Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid? A: My earliest memories are intertwined with TCGs, there wasn’t a moment in my childhood that I didn’t collect cards. Yugioh and Pokémon have been in my life as long as I can remember. I collected both Pokémon and yugioh for over 15 years. I also collected other TCGs over the years, my favorite being chaotic, I’d say that’s where most inspiration for the gam
