ECG Interview #3: Caveman Rumble

I spoke with the creator of Caveman Rumble! Here are his answers to my questions:

Q: Please describe your card game!
A: Caveman Rumble is a super fun and easy card where you match the colors of your cavemen with the colors of the eggs and dinos to get the most points possible. It’s also very exciting and full of strategy because you can steal, destroy, and stop other players cards to sabotage their points!

Q: What inspired you to create a card game?
A: I’ve been creating games for a while, I love game nights with friends and family, and I wanted to create a card game that was fun and easy to learn and play with them. After many tries, I finally found one that everyone loved and I wanted to share it with the world

Q: What card games did you grow up playing as a kid?
A: Growing up I played with many card games, from games like uno, battleship, scrabble to exploding kittens, cash and guns, and unstable unicorns

Q: What sets Caveman Rumble apart from other games?
A: Imagine a game with cute little hungry cavemen on the hunt for eggs and dinos that's easy to pick up and learn but also has a twist of strategy- where you can start by matching colors, and also steal, destroy, and stop other players to get the most points!

Q: How long have you been working on the game?
A: We’ve been working on this game since last year 2022

Q: How did you come up with the name Caveman Rumble?
A: The theme of the game was centered around these cute, hungry caveman and I loved the idea that they were on a rumble/quest to hunt for dinosaurs and eggs, and Caveman Rumble was created!

Q: What is the illustration/design process for the game?
A: I just imagined and sketched what I thought cute cavemen and dinosaurs would look appealing to not only me, but my audience as well, and also working hand in hand with the artist

Q: When will the game officially be released?
A: It will launch on Kickstarter on September 5, 2023

Q: Will you be at any upcoming conventions?
A: We are actually attending the Fling Con convention in New Braunfels this weekend! From July 21-22!

Q: What are your future plans for the Caveman Rumble?
A: We have loved the process of creating this game and we have many ideas and would love to create expansions for this game as well as other fun games to play with friends and family!

Q: Do you have any advice for someone looking to make their own game?
A: Creating a card game is definitely not an easy process, but it’s important to never be afraid to do the unexpected. Always have true friends who tell you the truth about your game and be open to receiving honest and constructive criticism as it is an opportunity to improve and be better.
