TCG Interview #78: Sky City

I spoke with the creator of Sky City! Here are his answers to my questions:

Q: Please describe your trading card game!
A: Sky City TCG is based inside a galaxy called “Spectrum” which was not created by a star, this galaxy was created by most of the radiation from the Big Bang, and due to that, it has very unique properties.

Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG?
A: When I was a kid, I used to make my own comics for fun and then I thought that I should make cards for them, and just like that, I started making my own cards, in the future I will share the old cards that I have made with you all.

Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid?
A: I used to play Pokémon and various Topps card sets like Cricket Attax, Slan Attax and Hero Attax, I still have them in my collection.

Q: What sets Sky City apart from other TCGs?
A: I didn’t want to reveal it this early but the main thing that makes Sky City unique is that it will be a story based TCG, like with every set that I release, I will release a part of story about Sky City which will act as a storyline, the first part of the story will be based on the creation of Spectrum galaxy and sone of the main characters of the storyline.

Q: How did you come up with the name Sky City?
A: Well my real name is Uzair, and once I was searching for a name to use for gaming and I thought about Knight, since then I used Knight everywhere but decided it was too common so I started using Uzair_Knight. Then my friends started telling that using ur own name in games is not good, so I removed Uz and ended up with Air Knight which is obviously stupid so I replaced Air with Sky and to this day, I use Sky Knight everywhere so it was only fair that the main planet of the story must be named after me, and yes it’s name is Sky City but it is a whole planet.

Q: How long have you been working on the game?
A: I have been working on it for almost 2 years now, I have gone through many different art, templates, game rules, story, and I have finally reached a point where I think it’s ready.

Q: What is the illustration/design process like?
A: Well sone might not believe this but my digital art is mostly done on my phone, using my fingers. I draw on a piece of paper, take a photo of it, then convert it into digital art and then put it into the card template, as for ideas, I just try to run the story on my head and try to think of different scenarios and I automatically come up with characters, my art is not the best and I know that, but my ideas are a work of art.

Q: When will the game officially be released?
A: In the next 2 months, I will release Part 0: Prologue which will only be a 10 card set and I will use it to try out everything and see what different ways I can use to ensure that my TCG can be in as many hands as possible, after that I think it will take 4-6 more months for me to release Part 1.

Q: What are your future plans for Sky City?
A: In the start, I will only be selling in India, but later on, I will figure out a way to ship worldwide, the problem for me is that I don’t think there are any htcgs made in India, I might be the first one, so I don’t really know much that I can do.

Q: Will you be at any upcoming conventions?
A: For the time being, no I don’t think so.

Q: Do you have any advice for someone looking to make their own TCG?
A: Just don’t copy someone else’s stuff, the more you try to be unique, the more people will get attracted towards your TCG.

TCG Interview #90: Ward (Part 2)

I did a follow-up interview with Ward TCG, here are their answers to my questions! Q:  What’s new with Ward TCG since our previous interview? A: A lot has happened in the year since our last interview. Ward has hosted a dozen tournaments with great turnouts, lots of action, and many new players.    We have attended several conventions with the most recent being the HUGE Midwest gaming Classic in Milwaukee WI. The original actors from resident Evil 1 video game hung out at our booth for a while and were enamored with Ward.    We are in about 2 dozen stores, including a partnership with a Midwest convenience store chain “Luckey Seven”. They fell in love with Ward and have begun to spread it in their 37 stores across the Midwest.    We were invited to be on several interviews with ABC News. They also loved Ward and wanted to help promote an upcoming tournament we had in Minneapolis MN at that time. Being on Live TV was very nerve racking. We were also hosted by PBS for a short segment cal

TCG Interview #12: Neo Gambit

I spoke with the creator of Neo Gambit- here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: NeoGambit is a fast paced and easy to play deck building combat TCG. Q: What inspired you to create a TCG? A: This came from a dream. I woke up from a nap and had dreamt of this fun TCG, reminded me of how much fun I had as a kid play card games. As a kid I spent hours playing games, but mostly alone, a lot of rules and effects for cards were off putting to others around me. So from my dream, NeoGambit was birthed. A simple fun TCG that literally anyone can play. Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid? A: My earliest memories are intertwined with TCGs, there wasn’t a moment in my childhood that I didn’t collect cards. Yugioh and Pokémon have been in my life as long as I can remember. I collected both Pokémon and yugioh for over 15 years. I also collected other TCGs over the years, my favorite being chaotic, I’d say that’s where most inspiration for the gam
