TCG Interview #12: Neo Gambit

I spoke with the creator of Neo Gambit- here are his answers to my questions:

Q: Please describe your trading card game!

A: NeoGambit is a fast paced and easy to play deck building combat TCG.

Q: What inspired you to create a TCG?

A: This came from a dream. I woke up from a nap and had dreamt of this fun TCG, reminded me of how much fun I had as a kid play card games. As a kid I spent hours playing games, but mostly alone, a lot of rules and effects for cards were off putting to others around me. So from my dream, NeoGambit was birthed. A simple fun TCG that literally anyone can play.

Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid?

A: My earliest memories are intertwined with TCGs, there wasn’t a moment in my childhood that I didn’t collect cards. Yugioh and Pokémon have been in my life as long as I can remember. I collected both Pokémon and yugioh for over 15 years. I also collected other TCGs over the years, my favorite being chaotic, I’d say that’s where most inspiration for the game came from, naruto, and duel masters.

Q: What sets NeoGambit apart from other TCGs?

A: No effects. None. This TCG was designed to be easy to pick up and loads of fun

Q: How long have you been working on the game?

A: Almost at a year mark now

Q: How did you come up with the name Neo Gambit?

A: The name comes from the lore that’s intertwined within the card game. I’ve got quite a bit of lore developed for the project. Neo is the island where the lore takes place. The story of the card game is similar to yugioh, where the card game is prevalent within the lore. They play Gambit on the island of Neo

Q: What is the illustration/design process like?

A: It’s fun! I’d like to say im quite creative and having an outlet is an amazing way to express myself.

I get ideas, doodle a little bit and communicate with my artist who bangs out my ideas in physical images.

Q: When will the game be officially released?

A: Im hoping to have products available for direct purchase through me by the end of the year. I work 60+ hours and taking certification courses for work, so the timeline has no set concrete dates

Q: What are your future plans for Neo Gambit?

A: I 252 cars set named Descendants of the AllMother. I hope to have this completed with a year

Q: Do you have any advice for someone looking to make their own TCG?

A: Stay original and don’t compare yourself to anyone of anything else. If you’re creating something, create it. Don’t hold your ideas and dreams to the progress of any other projects

I spoke to the creators of WARD! Here are their answers to my questions:  Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: Ward is a trading card game that blends aspects from other popular TCGs like Pokemon, Yugioh, and Magic: The Gathering, but adds a Dungeons and Dragons style, dice rolling, battle system. We then simplified all aspects/systems so anyone can learn how to play with ease. Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: Ward was inspired by creator Joe Casey when he decided to buy a few packs of a new card game (We will not say which). He had always loved card games of any type, Pokemon, Yugioh, Magic, Cribbage, Poker, and so many more. He brought the packs home, opened them up and read the rules in order to play it. For several hours, he and another future Ward associate, could not figure out the rules or general layout of playing the game. YouTube videos did not explain it well either. Eventually, they gave up and moved on. The idea for Ward was not created on this ...

TCG Interview #88: Disc Cards

I spoke with Rob Eames, the creator of Disc Cards- h ere are his answers to my questions!  Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: I have always thought of it as a child of Magic: the Gathering and Yahtzee lineage, with Disc Golf  serving as the Midwife. That’s the glib answer, the serious one is this:  Disc Cards is a Trading Card Game, to be sold in Specialty Game Shops and especially Disc Golf Pro  Shops.  Players have a Deck of 60 cards, with no more than 3 of the same Disc Side allowed, and no more  than 3 of the same Location Side allowed. Each player has three 6-sided dice, and they use their dice  rolls and Disc Cards to match the obstacles along their chosen Route (players can choose to go for a  Par, a Birdie, or an Ace: a hole in one). You can play Disc Cards with a Group or Solo, you can decide to play high risk/reward or low-risk conservative, you can choose to help your opponents or you can choose to hinder your opponents:...
