Backrooms TCG Beginner's Guide

Welcome to my Backrooms TCG Beginner's Guide! It's basically a cheat sheet to help you jump right into the game. Backrooms TCG is a unique solitaire trading card game, played completely by yourself. Navigate the backrooms and face entities and try to escape without losing all your sanity! How to Win You win this game by getting to the Exit Outcome card. The Exit Outcome card must be in the Field of Play, and you can only enter if you're holding a painite gem, which you obtain by defeating an unfriendly entity that has a gem icon. How to Lose There are multiple ways to lose: lose your Sanity (your Sanity Points drop to zero), or run out of cards in your deck in hand (DIH). Terminology Deck in Hand (DIH): These cards are kept facedown, and are essentially your life points. If you have no cards left in your Deck in Hand, you lose the game. Pull Pile (PP): This is essentially your deck, the cards you pull from. Field of Play (FOP): This is the area in which you move rooms, e

TCG Interview #22: Mere Mortals

I spoke with the creator of Mere Mortals- here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A:  The Mere Mortals Trading Card Game (MMTCG) is a beatdown, deck-building game based on the characters and mythology of the Mere Mortals Saga, a dark-fantasy series of novels written by myself, the game’s creator, John Andrew Myers. If you like brutal cardboard combat, with a multitude of fighting styles to build your strategy around to decimate your foe, as well as an ever changing meta landscape, you might like our game. A sort of fucked up sense of humor wouldn’t hurt, either.  Q: What inspired you to create a TCG? 2. I’ve always been fascinated and enthralled by TCGs. In high school I was obsessed with playing the Dragonball Z CCG (the one from the early aughts, not the Super game that’s out now) with my friends. Every time we saw each other, we knew what we would be doing, and it never got old. When I began writing the Mere Mortals series, I knew I wanted

TCG Interview #21: [SYNSOULS]

I spoke with the creator of [SYNSOULS]- here are their answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: [SYNSOULS] is a new TCG featuring a unique, three-lane battle system and a number of different artists from around the World! [SYNSOULS] is heavily influenced by the power of sound and music, which can be felt across the terminology and game mechanics. Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: Having grown up playing Card Games and Tabletop Role-Playing Games, we wanted a way to share the stories and characters we've created over the years. In the past, I had created custom trading cards of our characters within existing card games, and I think that was the first step in what ultimately led to the creation of [SYNSOULS]. Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid? A: I started with Pokemon back when Wizards of the Coast still published everything. As a pre-teen I switched to Yu-Gi-Oh, and spent High-School and beyond playing Force of Will. Q: What

TCG Interview #20: Senators of Sol

I spoke with the creator of Senators of Sol- here are the answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: In Senators of Sol, players take control over a fledgling colony in our solar system, and vie for dominance of the solar system with Rivals. You can Build Structures, Employ Puppets, Issue Decrees, Enact Policies, and even Impose Crises on Rivals to further your position in the solar system.   Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: As a long time EDH player, it was frustrating to see Wizards of the Coast ignore fans of the format who routinely asked for a digital representation of the game. Coupled with our passion for game design, we decided to try developing our own card game taking inspiration from the EDH format.   Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid? A: Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!   Q: What sets Senators of Sol apart from other TCGs? A: There are a number of things that make us unique, but I think the most interesting

TCG Interview #19: I AM CHAMPION

I spoke with the creators of I AM CHAMPION- here are their answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game!  A: We created a game that even non-trading card gamers can understand and enjoy. So people who play TCG’s can play with friends and family who are not really into them. Maybe they will like it and be more willing to play more advanced games like MTG. This game is simple to learn and super fun to play. Let's BEGIN: Players can decide how long the game will be by choosing between a 5, 10 or 15 card battle.  Here you can either SHUFFLE your deck for a fun random champion battle or plan your attack by placing them in order, that's up to you and your opponent. With your deck of Champions faced down, each player draws their Champion from the top of the deck and places the card faced up in front of them at the same time on the table. Read the card and ability out load, so your opponent knows what awesome attack is coming their way. Each Champion is equipped
