TCG Interview #64: Arcanite

I spoke with the creator of Arcanite! Here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: Arcanite invites you to an immersive journey into a world of magic and mystery. As a powerful mage, you'll harness the energy of "Arcanites", magical crystals embodied as playing cards, to cast spells, wield legendary artifacts and summon creatures in exhilarating duels.  Arcanite has life decking, but with a twist: suspended cards can be used for late game comebacks. Thanks to its dynamic resource management and unique void mechanics no two games feel the same. Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: I have a big love for TCG's and it’s very nostalgic to me. For me it is all about the customization. It's fascinating how a deck of cards can reflect a person. So gameplay first, collectability second. With Arcanite I want to revive the nostalgic feelings I had and I want to cheer the fun of the genre to other people. Q: What TCGs did you

TCG Interview #63: Mythrel

I spoke with the creator of Mythrel! Here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: Mythrel is a unique blend of digital and physical trading card game that combines the best of both worlds. Players can collect and trade cards both in real life and online, and the game mechanics allow for strategic and engaging gameplay. The game is set in a fantasy world filled with deep lore, mythical creatures, and powerful magic. Each card represents a character, equipment, or spell that can be used in battle. Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: I've always been a fan of trading card games since I was a kid. The strategy, the artwork, the thrill of opening a new pack of cards - it all fascinated me. As I grew older, I realized that I wanted to create my own game that combined all the elements I loved from different TCGs, but also had its own unique twist. More recently, some mainstream TCGs really upset me as a heavily invested collector...T

TCG Interview #62: Dead World

I spoke with the creator of Dead World! Here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: Dead World is an indie TCG I am creating with the goal of being easy for new players to pick   up as well as keeping experienced players entertained. I wanted a game that focuses more on fun   gameplay over reading lots of text and chasing cards. It is based in a world I created originally as   a short story that keeps expanding. Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: I have been a fan of TCGs my whole life. I was a typical Pokémon kid obsessed with cards and games. I remember being frustrated that most people only collected the cards and had no idea how to play the game. As I got older, I ventured into Magic and stopped playing for a while   due to the same frustrations. Like a lot of people, covid gave me more time to focus on my   hobbies which include playing TCGs again and developing story ideas. Following MetaZoo   early on during the Kickstarter ph

BG Interview #1: Legions- Fantasy Board Game

I spoke with the creator of Legions- Fantasy Board Game! Here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your game! A: Our game is a war-like strategy game similar to a RTS video game, but done on a grad base system on the board. In which your TCG style deck helps aid your units, and officers on the game board which is called the battle field.  Q: What inspired you to create your own game? A: This game spawned off another TCG project that I was helping a few years back. It fell apart with the team behind it, and in which I decided later with a former partner of that previous game to create this one.   Q: What games did you grow up playing as a kid? A: A lot of RTS, TCGs, and JRPGs. To name off a few StarCraft, Command & Conquer, Morrowind, Skyrim, Yugioh, Pokémon, all the final fantasy games, and Star Ocean games as well. I mean it’s too long to list but those are a few.  Q: What sets Legions apart from other games? A: It’s the fact you can control so many units at once li

TCG Interview #61: Mystic Islands

I spoke with the creator of Mystic Islands! Here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: Mystic Islands is a turn based battle TCG, where two or more players (casters) use creature, ability, and leader cards to defeat their opponents! Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: Personally, I had played other TCG's with friends. These games had amazing qualities, but for me and my friend group there seemed to be rules and concepts that could've been improved to what we considered a more fun experience, so I decided to tackle the challenge of creating one myself. Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid? A: I grew up playing Pokemon and started to pick up MTG when I became a bit older. Q: What sets Mystic Islands apart from other TCGs? A: Most of our players have commented that the game is a fast paced unique strategical experience. I would also add that we utilize a "comeback" mechanic, I would also consider our ability

TCG Interview #60: RYFT Card Battle

I spoke with the creator of RYFT Card Battle! Here are his answers to my questions: Q: Please describe your trading card game! A: RYFT Card Battle (RYFT for short) is a fast paced, high-action TCG focused around opening RYFTs to all different Domains to bring forth Beings and Matrixes to battle your Rival! Both players will utilise Beings and Code cards to build up powerful boards, then battle for victory! Q: What inspired you to create your own TCG? A: When I was a lot younger, I used to spend my days creating custom cards for games like Pokémon/Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc. I'd even develop my own card archetypes and gamemodes, then take them to my locals for us to play! Over time I moved to more digital platforms to play games, but always wanted to bring that unique feel my old cards had in those games. Thus, RYFT was born! Q: What TCGs did you grow up playing as a kid? A: I mainly focused on Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon, but did dabble into other games like MTG from time to time. I also used to pla

TCG Community Interview #3: @metacosmic_quest

I spoke with @metacosmic_quest, a member of the TCG community! Here are his answers to my questions:  Q: What was the first TCG you ever collected or played? A: Actually I remember my first card. A pokemon base set Holo suicune given to me by my neighbor at around 5 years old. I still have it. And while pokemon was the first I played, I quickly switched to playing Yu-Gi-Oh. Pokemon has always been my main collection though. Q: Which TCGs do you currently collect/play? A: Well playing competitively it's currently Metazoo only. But I've dabbled in Krytik and, naturally, I play BackroomsTCG as well.  Q: What's your favorite card in your collection? A: That's a tough one because I have so many TCGs I collect. I even have Club Penguin Cards   but my favorite card from my entire TCG collection? If I HAVE to choose one overall, it would probably be my base set Articuno. Heavily Played in condition and it's unlimited print, but it was easily my favorite card growing up for
